Hugo – movie on Friday, May 18

The movie, Hugo, will be shown at the library on Friday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. Rated PG; 127 minutes.

An orphaned boy secretly lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station and looks after the clocks. He gets caught up in a mystery adventure when he attempts to repair a mechanical man.

Based on the Brian Selznick novel - The Invention of Hugo Cabret.

Lego League – Saturday, May 19

Start building your own Lego creation now and bring it to the library on Saturday, May 19 at 11 a.m.. We will display your creations in the library display window during the month of June.

During Lego League, each participant will receive an identical bag of Legos. Create your best with what you are given. Observe the creative talent of others.

This program is designed for grades 2-8.

Storytime – Tuesday, May 22

Storytime is every Tuesday at 11 a.m. Pre-school children and their caretakers are invited to attend this free program that develops literacy skills while having a lot of fun. This week we have some amateur magicians who will be performing. Come and enjoy the show along with stories, activities and a craft.

Have you ever checked out an e-book from your public library?

The Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, a non-profit research organization in Washington, DC, is conducting an online survey of public library patrons who borrow e-books. If you have checked out or downloaded e-books from a public library, please consider taking Pew Internet’s survey, available at the link below. All responses will be confidential, although your answers may be quoted anonymously in a future report. The survey should take about 15 minutes.

Learn a Language with MANGO

Exciting news! The library now has an interactive website to learn a language by simply using your free library card.
Mango is an online language-learning system that can help one learn languages like Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Italian, Russian, and more. Each lesson combines real life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions.
From this website, click on on-line databases in the right hand column. Scroll down to Education. Click on Mango Languages. Put in your library card number and you are ready to learn conversations in other languages. Use headphones and speakers for the total experience.
If you are a student, this will help you practice the language you are learning in school. If you are planning a trip, this is a great way to learn a new language or polish up on one you know.

Problems logging in the second time? If you are not asked for your library card number, the computer bypassed the library connection and you will see the “oops” page. Clear your browsing history and it should work. If this doesn’t solve the problem, please inform the library staff.
