Next Storytime is on a BUS! – Sept. 7

After a short break, storytime will begin again on Tuesday, September 7 at 11:00 a.m. Since this is the last program before our five-year-olds start school, the theme will be bus safety. This will be a lot of fun since the program will take place on a school bus in front of the library. The wheels of a bus go round and round!

Family Movie- Friday, September 10 – Furry Vengeance

The PG-rated comedy, Furry Vengeance will be shown at the library on Friday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m. If the weather cooperates, plan to be outside. This movie stars Brendan Fraser who moves his wife and son to the woods. The local critters learn of the bleak plans for their forest home and stop at nothing to halt construction. Refreshments will be served.

Adult Game Night – September 12

Get out of the house and challenge your mind. Adult game night is now a monthly event. This month it is on Sunday, September 12 beginning at 7 p.m. Join other adults in playing scrabble, Settlers of Catan, or other board games. Hope to see you in the meeting room of the library and town hall.

Guest author, Elizabeth Brundage, Sept.19

The nationally renowned author, Elizabeth Brundage, will be coming to speak at the Berne Public Library on Sunday, September 19, 2010. The book talk will begin at 7:00 p.m. Ms. Brundage is the author of The Doctor’s Wife, Somebody Else’s Daughter and the recently released book, A Stranger Like You. All interested adults are invited. Don’t miss out on this free, special event. Refreshments will be provided.

Babysitting Program – participants wanted

The library has been asked by a patron to sponsor the American Red Cross babysitting course at the Berne Public Library. Young adults, ages 11 and up, may take this 8 hour class to become a certified babysitter. The cost is $63.00 per person for the day. At least 10 students are needed in order for the Red Cross to send an instructor to our area. Please call the library if you are interested. 872-1246

This years Caldecott Medal winner is The Lion and the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney. The winner of the Newberry Medal is When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead.

Friends of the library

The Friends of the Berne Library are a group of volunteers who devote their efforts to support the Berne Library. Membership into the Friends group is $5.00 for an individual or $10.00 for a family.
